We work all week and need time to deal with all the life admin, the washing, the ironing the cooking and cleaning. Lucky for parents these days there are lots of ways to entertain your child so you can have a moment to drink that coffee while it’s hot and just get on top of things if only for a short while.
There are many different activities on a Saturday ranging from Swimming, gymnastics, martial arts and many performing arts classes.

So how do you choose?
First of all start with your child’s interests. No point in signing up for ballet classes if your child has no interest in dancing.
I could write a whole article about local activities, but this website covers it so well I thought I’d just send you to it

All these activities cost as I’m sure you are aware, so once again how do you choose?
So let’s compare these activities to a babysitter.
I enjoy a night out every now and then with my wonderful husband. This means we have to pay a babysitter to sit in our house and watch TV while our little cherubs sleep soundly in their beds. Yes this person has responsibility of our children should anything happen in that time, but generally my 2 are sound sleepers and the worst thing that happens is they wake up!
I would happily pay a baby sitter £30 to look after by children for about 3hrs while my husband and I go out for the evening. Having had a look around, prices do vary but that seems to be a decent rate.
So when looking for other ways to entertain my children, I use that as a bench mark.
.

I can not speak for other activity companies, but Theatretrain currently charges £20 for a 3hr session.
Within these 3hrs your child is entertained, they are with friends in a safe welcoming environment and they are learning skills that will set them up for life.
Not only do you get 3hrs of free time, it helps with the mum guilt a little!
There are other ways to get your free time, send the kids out with dad, put the TV on or allow an hour or so of tech time. These are a cheaper option however not much help with the mum guilt!
