In the colorful world of performing arts, every child deserves a chance to shine, regardless of their abilities or challenges. At Theatretrain, we believe in fostering an inclusive environment where children with additional needs are not just accommodated, but celebrated. While we may not be specifically trained to cater to every unique need, our approach is rooted in empathy, flexibility, and a genuine desire to support each child’s journey.
Understanding the Individual:
One of the core principles at Theatretrain is recognizing that every child is unique. As such, we approach each child on a case-by-case basis, taking the time to understand their strengths, challenges, and individual needs. While we may not have specialised training in dealing with specific conditions, our commitment to inclusivity means we welcome children of all abilities with open arms.
A Safe Haven for Expression:
One of the remarkable aspects of Theatretrain is its ability to provide a safe haven for children with additional needs to express themselves freely. Unlike the structured environment of a school setting, our sessions encourage children to embrace their individuality and creativity without fear of judgment or the need to conform. Over the years, we have witnessed these children not only participate but thrive in our inclusive atmosphere.
Communication is Key:
Understanding your child’s needs is paramount to providing the best support possible. That’s why we encourage parents to provide as much detail as possible about their child’s needs on the application form. This information allows us to tailor our approach and provide any necessary accommodations to ensure your child’s experience at Theatretrain is both enjoyable and enriching.

Group Dynamics and Teamwork:
It’s important to note that Theatretrain is a group activity that emphasises teamwork and collaboration. While we strive to accommodate children with additional needs to the best of our abilities, we are unable to offer one-on-one support for individual children. If your child is unable to follow instructions and work with others, Theatretrain may not be suitable. It is important that we are able to work together as a group.
The Taster Session Experience:
We understand that every child may not thrive in every environment, which is why we offer a taster session to assess if Theatretrain is the right fit for your child. This introductory session allows both parents and children to experience our inclusive atmosphere firsthand and determine if it aligns with their needs and expectations.
At Theatretrain, we believe in the transformative power of the performing arts to enrich the lives of all children, including those with additional needs. While we may not have all the answers or specialised training, our commitment to inclusivity, empathy, and understanding ensures that every child who walks through our doors feels valued, supported, and empowered to shine bright on stage. Join us as we celebrate diversity, creativity, and the endless possibilities that come with embracing every child, just as they are.
