Performing Arts Classes in Norwich and Wymondham

We offer four weekly performing arts classes for children and young people across Hellesdon, Cringleford and Wymondham:

Main Company (ages 6–18) – Saturdays, 10am–1pm at Hellesdon High School.

Theatretrain MINIS (ages 4–5) – Saturdays, 9am–10.30am at Hellesdon High School.

Theatretrain Express Cringleford (ages 5–11) – Wednesdays, 4.30–6pm at Cringleford Primary School.

Theatretrain Express Wymondham (ages 5–11) – Thursdays, 4.30–6pm at Silfield Oak Primary Academy.

All of our classes combine acting, singing and dance, with options for children from age 4 right through to 18.

We run Theatretrain classes at three locations across Norwich and Wymondham:

Hellesdon High School – home to our Saturday Main Company for ages 6–18 and our Theatretrain MINIS classes for ages 4–5.

Cringleford Primary School – home to our Wednesday Theatretrain Express classes for ages 5–11.

Silfield Oak Primary Academy, Wymondham – home to our Thursday Theatretrain Express classes for ages 5–11.

All of our classes combine acting, singing and dance, so families can choose the Theatretrain class and location that best suits their child.

The best Theatretrain class for your child will depend on their age, what they’d like to get from their sessions and what works best for your family.

For children aged 6–18 who would like a more in-depth performing arts experience, our Saturday Main Company in Hellesdon is our flagship programme. Students spend three hours each week training in acting, singing and dance, rotating between specialist teachers and working in age-appropriate groups. Main Company students also have the opportunity to take part in our large-scale national Theatretrain productions every other year, alongside local performances and showcases. The longer sessions, specialist training and additional performance opportunities are reflected in the higher Main Company fee.

Our 90-minute Theatretrain Express classes in Cringleford and Wymondham are a great option for children aged 5–11 who would prefer a shorter after-school session. Children are taught together as one group, making Express a lovely choice for siblings of different ages who would like to attend together. Students enjoy acting, singing and dance each week and work towards showcases for parents at the end of each term.

For children aged 4–5, Theatretrain MINIS is specially designed as a fun and age-appropriate introduction to singing, dancing and acting. Five-year-olds can choose between MINIS or our Cringleford and Wymondham Express classes. If your child is 5 and Saturday mornings work for your family, we would usually recommend MINIS as a great place to start, as some younger children can find an after-school session finishing at 6pm a long day after school. They can then progress to an Express class or our Main Company, which is available from age 6.

Can shy or less confident children join Theatretrain?

Absolutely. Children don’t need to be naturally confident or outgoing to enjoy Theatretrain. We welcome children with all different personalities, and our classes provide a friendly and supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to join in at their own pace.

Through acting, singing and dance, working together with others and gradually trying new things, we often see children grow in confidence both on and off stage. There’s no pressure to be the loudest person in the room – we want every child to feel comfortable being themselves and proud of what they achieve.

Not at all. No previous performing arts experience is needed to join Theatretrain. We welcome complete beginners as well as children and young people who already have experience in acting, singing or dance.

Our teachers support children at their individual level, helping them learn new skills, challenge themselves and develop their confidence as they progress.

Our Theatretrain classes have different fees depending on the type and length of session.

Main Company (ages 6–18) – £83 per month by Direct Debit for three hours of acting, singing and dance every Saturday.

Theatretrain Express in Cringleford and Wymondham (ages 5–11) – £50 per month by Direct Debit for a 90-minute weekly session.

Theatretrain MINIS (ages 4–5) – £50 per month by Direct Debit for a 90-minute Saturday morning session.

For our Main Company and Express classes, we offer a 50% discount for families receiving Universal Credit (proof of eligibility is required), as well as a 50% sibling discount for the youngest sibling when more than one child from the same family attends.

New students can try Theatretrain before joining with our 2-for-1 taster offer – £25 for two Main Company sessions or £15 for two Express or MINIS sessions.

If your child decides to join Theatretrain after their taster sessions, there is a one-off £20 registration fee.

Absolutely! We offer a 2-for-1 taster across all of our Theatretrain Norwich classes, giving your child the chance to attend two sessions before deciding whether they’d like to join us regularly.

They can meet their teachers and the other children, take part in acting, singing and dance, and get a real feel for Theatretrain with no pressure to commit.

Our 2-for-1 taster costs £25 for two Main Company sessions, or £15 for two Theatretrain MINIS sessions or two Theatretrain Express sessions at Cringleford or Wymondham.
