All of our sessions at Theatretrain Cambridge North are led by professionals in an inclusive, group-based environment. We want your child to have FUN while they learn from some of the best in the industry, immersed in an impressive and enjoyable performance programme.

Theatretrain Cambridge North Sessions

Our weekly sessions take place at Chesterton Community College, Chesterton covering the 3 main principles of performance – acting, singing and dancing.

Main Company

These sessions bring students together in their age groups to learn ensemble songs, work on their acting skills and dance their socks off! They become rehearsals for a performance as the year progresses, and all students have the chance to perform each and every year.

Junior Company: Minis

Every dream starts somewhere… In these 90-minute sessions our young performers cover all three disciplines and learn the basic skills of imagination and stagecraft. Most importantly, we make sure everyone feels comfortable, creating a vibrant atmosphere to learn in!

New: Theatretrain Cambridge May Half term Workshops​

Join us at Theatretrain Cambridge for our fantastic, fun filled Easter workshops on the 28th & 29th May at Trumpington Meadows Primary School. Let your young performer dive into the magic of Mary Poppins & Newsies. From exploring the exciting places and colourful characters of Mary Poppins, to diving into the hustle and bustle of the streets of NYC in Newsies, your child will create memories that will last a lifetime! What could be better than learning to DANCE, ACT & SING through story, characters & moves. The workshops are tailored to children aged between 6 – 16 years.

  • Tuesday 28th May – Mary Poppins.
  • Wednesday 29th May – Newsies.

New: Theatretrain Cambridge MINIS May Half term Workshops​

Theatretrain Cambridge are running another amazing, super fun set of Half term Workshops for Minis this May, on the Tuesday 28th & Wednesday 29th May. Let your little one’s dive into the enchanting worlds of Mary Poppins and Bluey, with songs from your favourite magical nannie, and fun & games with Bluey, Bandit and all their friends . What could be better than learning to DANCE, ACT & SING through story, characters & movie musicals. The workshops are tailored to children aged between 4 and 6 years.

  • Tuesday 28th – Mary Poppins.
  • Wednesday 29th – Bluey.

Theatretrain Cambridge are super excited to be running our third, super fun Summer School for performing arts, from Monday 5th – Friday 9th August . Join us for a whole week of fantastic fun, magical musical and friendships & memories that will last a lifetime. Let your young performer dive into the excitement of Inside out, Descendants, Summer Festival Pop Icons, High School Musical, Aladdin. From exploring the adventures of the mini villains to experiencing the excitement of High School Musical. 

  • Monday 5th – Inside Out.
  • Tuesday 6th – Descendants.
  • Wednesday 7th – Summer Festival : Pop Icons.
  • Thursday 8th – High School Musical.
  • Friday 9th – Aladdin.

Our professional choreographers instruct young people in a huge range of dance styles and techniques, letting them collaborate as a group and find the power of movement.

We organise large-scale performances, and each year our students have the chance to take part in exciting shows and events, making memories and developing skills that will last a lifetime. Our big performances have taken place in stunning venues like the Royal Albert Hall and West End theatres.

Every individual is celebrated within our theatre company for being enthusiastic, true to themselves and for overcoming whatever struggles they came to the session with, whether it be shyness or difficulty concentrating. Our creative team are performing arts professionals, and they’re dedicated to making your child feel included and proud of their achievements as they progress. 


Theatretrain Reviews

Answering your Theatretrain Cambridge North FAQs

Our sessions cover acting, dancing and singing. All our performers learn to use techniques that cover space, storytelling, sound and movement and what we call attitude – the feelings behind their performance. 

At our main company, sessions are offered to 6-18 year-olds, divided into age groups: 6-9 years, 9-12 years and 13-18 years. 

We also offer Junior Ensemble, with TT Minis sessions for 4-5-year-olds 

No, we don’t require you to audition for your place at Theatretrain. We don’t judge the people who want to join us, and we’re confident our students will quickly get in the swing of the Theatretrain Way.

Our main sessions are on Saturdays in term time from 10am-1pm

We also offer Junior Ensemble: TT Minis sessions, which take place on Saturdays in term time from 9.45-11.15

Our Main Company session costs £22 for three hours.

Junior Ensemble: £11 for a 90-minute session.
