Our performing arts classes in Royston

All of our sessions at Theatretrain Royston are led by professionals in an inclusive, group-based environment. We want your child to have FUN while they learn from some of the best in the industry, immersed in an impressive and enjoyable performance programme.

Classes for 6-18 year olds

Our weekly sessions take place at Stage Right Studios and Coombes Community Centre, Royston, covering the 3 main principles of performance – acting, singing and dancing.

Main Company

These sessions bring students together in their age groups to learn ensemble songs, work on their acting skills and dance their socks off! They become rehearsals for a performance as the year progresses, and all students have the chance to perform each and every year.

This weekly 1.5 hour session is the ‘express’ version of our 3 hour Friday main school session.

Classes for 4-5 year olds

Every dream starts somewhere… In these 90-minute sessions our young performers cover all three disciplines and learn the basic skills of imagination and stagecraft. Most importantly, we make sure everyone feels comfortable, creating a vibrant atmosphere to learn in!

Dance

Our professional choreographers instruct young people in a huge range of dance styles and techniques, letting them collaborate as a group and find the power of movement.

We empower your child to express themselves without judgement, encouraging them to take on characters, tell creative stories and follow their passion for acting.

We encourage all our students to build their confidence through song, embracing technical and real-world techniques used by singing professionals.

We organise large-scale performances, and each year our students have the chance to take part in exciting shows and events, making memories and developing skills that will last a lifetime. Our big performances have taken place in stunning venues like the Royal Albert Hall and West End theatres.

Answering your Theatretrain Royston FAQs

Our sessions cover acting, dancing and singing. All our performers learn to use techniques that cover space, storytelling, sound and movement and what we call attitude – the feelings behind their performance. 

At our main company and TT Express sessions are offered to 6-18 year-olds, divided into age groups: 6-8 years, 9-11 years and 12-18 years. 

We also offer Junior Ensemble, with TT Minis sessions for 4-5-year-olds and TT Tinies sessions for 3-4 year olds.

No, we don’t require you to audition for your place at Theatretrain. We don’t judge the people who want to join us, and we’re confident our students will quickly get in the swing of the Theatretrain Way.

Our main sessions are on Fridays in term time from 4-7pm.

We also offer Junior Ensemble: TT Minis sessions, which take place in term time on Thursdays 4-5.30pm and Friday 3.45-5.15pm 

Our Junior Ensemble: TT Tinies sessions take place Fridays 2-2.45pm

In addition Main Company: Express takes place on Thursdays 5.30-7pm

Our Main Company session costs £24 for a three hours session.

Junior Ensemble: Minis costs £13 for a 90-minute session.

Junior Ensemble: Tinies costs £8 for a 45-minute session.

Main Company: Express costs £13 for a 90-minute session.

Yes, we accept childcare vouchers and tax-free childcare payments.
