Can drama classes help with anxiety?

Anxiety can present in many different ways. Our classes create a safe space where you can be yourself

Anxiety is a feeling of unease. Some feel this mildly, others more strongly. For example joining a new school or taking an exam can cause anxiety in young people and for some it stops them going into the world and trying new things.

Theatretrain is a great place to overcome anxiety as we create a safe space where our students can be themselves. We do this in a number of ways but one is marking out the space.

Each week we mark out our theatrical space with ribbon. This changes the room we are in (a school drama room for example) into a theatrical space. Within that space we can explore our feelings through characters and scenarios. You are in a room with a bunch of like minded people who will accept you for who you are.

Through our process of weekly classes which culminate into a production our students gain confidence and belief in themselves and their abilities that they become more resilient Their anxieties may not disappear, but they become better at handling situations.
