Professional theatre training for children in Reading
Theatretrain Reading welcomes aspiring performers from Reading and surrounding areas, including Woodley, Winnersh, Wokingham, Henley-on-Thames, Sonning, Shiplake, Emmer Green, Kidmore End, Purley, Calcot and Theale who want to learn how to take their ideas and feelings and express them through acting, dancing and singing. Students also take part in performances locally and nationally.
Theatretrain Reading is more than a drama club!
Theatretrain Reading offers professional theatre training for 4-18 year olds in a way that is both fun and effective. More than a drama club, a dance school or a singing group, our performing arts classes give children and young people a place to explore the world and create performances. This process gives them life skills that will help them whether they want a career in the performing arts or the confidence to thrive in the real world. All the world’s a stage after all!
Theatretrain Reading Weekly Classes
Our theatre classes take place at The Hill School, Caversham. In the Main school the three hour session has an hour each of acting, dancing and singing. So all performers learn the three disciplines and have a lot of fun along the way. Find the session for your age group below.
Classes are divided into the following age groups: 6-9 year olds, 10-12 year olds, and 13-18 year olds. We create amazing opportunities these students to work with industry professionals and perform on stage in local and regional professional theatres, and world famous West End venues. These classes become rehearsals for performances later in the year.
In 90 minutes our young performers cover all three disciplines and learn the basic skills of imagination and stagecraft. This is the perfect introduction to the performing arts. We create a safe and fun environment to inspire our youngest students and help them build their confidence and performance skills.
This weekly 1.5 hour class is for those performers who want to work with a group on challenging work. Hard work but fun and illuminating. Advanced Acting form as a Theatre Company each year with the aim to perform locally, in the UK at Festivals and Abroad.
Be part of something bigger
Theatretrain Reading is part of a UK network of centres who have the same approach to the performing arts. This community comes together to do something unique – large scale performances in venues like the Royal Albert Hall. Our Alumni and Patrons know how transformational this working together can be. Theatretrain has a huge store of unparalleled activity and constantly evolves its work.
Theatre is a great place to ask the question… what if?
