Our Performing Arts Classes In Chester

All of our sessions at Theatretrain Chester are led by professionals in an inclusive, group-based environment. We want your child to have FUN while they learn from some of the best in the industry, immersed in an impressive and enjoyable performance programme.

Theatretrain Chester Sessions

Our weekly sessions take place at Queen’s Park High School, Chester covering the 3 main principles of performance – acting, singing and dancing.

Main Company

These sessions bring students together in their age groups to learn ensemble songs, work on their acting skills and dance their socks off! They become rehearsals for a performance as the year progresses, and all students have the chance to perform each and every year.

Junior Ensemble: Minis

Every dream starts somewhere… In these 90-minute sessions our young performers cover all three disciplines and learn the basic skills of imagination and stagecraft. Most importantly, we make sure everyone feels comfortable, creating a vibrant atmosphere to learn in!


Junior Ensemble: Tinies

Every dream starts somewhere… In these 45-minute sessions our young performers cover all three disciplines and learn the basic skills of imagination and stagecraft. Most importantly, we make sure everyone feels comfortable, creating a vibrant atmosphere to learn in!

The Theatretrain Regional Choir

Our choir is for children from across our whole area who come together with their shared love of singing.

We have supported many charities, we’ve performed with Collabro on their national tour and we’ve even sung at a wedding.


Theatretrain After School Clubs

We currently offer After School Clubs to Primary Schools across the region. In Chester we’re in Overleigh St Mary’s and St Werburgh’s & St Columba’s
Join us in the school hall (or nominated classroom) for an hour of dancing, acting and singing each week

Our next production is to be Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It will be staged at The William Aston Hall in Wrexham in July 2024. All new pupils joining us now will be eligible to take part in that exciting production.

Our professional choreographers instruct young people in a huge range of dance styles and techniques, letting them collaborate as a group and find the power of movement.

We organise large-scale performances, and each year our students have the chance to take part in exciting shows and events, making memories and developing skills that will last a lifetime. Our big performances have taken place in stunning venues like the Royal Albert Hall and West End theatres.

Theatretrain Reviews

Answering your Theatretrain Chester FAQs

Our sessions cover acting, dancing and singing. All our performers learn to use techniques that cover space, storytelling, sound and movement and what we call attitude – the feelings behind their performance. 

At our main company, sessions are offered to 6-18 year-olds, divided into age groups: 6-9 years, 9-12 years and 13-18 years. 

We also offer Junior Ensemble, with TT Minis sessions for 4-5-year-olds and TT Tinies for 3 year olds.

No, we don’t require you to audition for your place at Theatretrain. We don’t judge the people who want to join us, and we’re confident our students will quickly get in the swing of the Theatretrain Way.

Our main sessions are on Fridays 4.30pm-7.30pm and Saturdays in term time from 10am-1pm

We also offer Junior Ensemble: TT Minis sessions, which take place on Saturdays in term time from 11.30-12.30 and our TT Tinies sessions run Saturdays 11am-11.30am.

Our Main Company session costs £20 for three hours.

Junior Ensemble: TT Minis £12 for a 90-minute session.

Junior Ensemble: TT Tinies £7 for a 45-minute session.
