All of our sessions at Theatretrain St Albans are led by professionals in an inclusive, group-based environment. We want your child to have FUN while they learn from some of the best in the industry, immersed in an impressive and enjoyable performance programme.

Our weekly sessions take place at Beaumont School, covering the 3 main principles of performance – acting, singing and dancing.

Matilda Workshop

Step into the world of Matilda the Musical in this fun and energetic Theatretrain workshop! Students will explore songs, scenes and choreography inspired by the hit musical based on Matilda by Roald Dahl.

Throughout the session, performers will build confidence while learning exciting musical theatre routines, acting out favourite moments from the story, and developing their singing, dancing and acting skills in a supportive and creative environment.

Perfect for young performers who love storytelling, big characters and plenty of theatrical fun!

Little Mermaid Workshop Film Version Minis PNG

Little Mermaid Workshop

Dive under the sea in our magical workshop inspired by The Little Mermaid! Students will explore songs, scenes and choreography from this much-loved Disney classic, bringing the story of Ariel and her underwater world to life.

Throughout the session, performers will develop their singing, dancing and acting skills while building confidence, creativity and stage presence in a fun and supportive environment.

Perfect for young performers who love Disney, big characters and plenty of theatrical fun under the sea!

Main Company

These sessions bring students together in their age groups to learn ensemble songs, work on their acting skills and dance their socks off! They become rehearsals for a performance as the year progresses, and all students have the chance to perform each and every year.

Junior Company

Every dream starts somewhere… In these 90-minute sessions our young performers cover all three disciplines and learn the basic skills of imagination and stagecraft. Most importantly, we make sure everyone feels comfortable, creating a vibrant atmosphere to learn in!

Dance

Our professional choreographers instruct young people in a huge range of dance styles and techniques, letting them collaborate as a group and find the power of movement.

We empower your child to express themselves without judgement, encouraging them to take on characters, tell creative stories and follow their passion for acting.

We encourage all our students to build their confidence through song, embracing technical and real-world techniques used by singing professionals.

We organise large-scale performances, and each year our students have the chance to take part in exciting shows and events, making memories and developing skills that will last a lifetime. Our big performances have taken place in stunning venues like the Royal Albert Hall and West End theatres.

Answering your Theatretrain St Albans FAQs

Our sessions cover acting, dancing and singing. All our performers learn to use techniques that cover space, storytelling, sound and movement and what we call attitude – the feelings behind their performance. 

At our main company, sessions are offered to 6-18 year-olds, divided into age groups: 6-9 years, 9-12 years and 13-18 years. 

Our Junior company sessions are offered to 4-5 year olds

No, we don’t require you to audition for your place at Theatretrain. We don’t judge the people who want to join us, and we’re confident our students will quickly get in the swing of the Theatretrain Way.

Our main sessions are on Saturdays in term time TBC

Our Main Company session costs £80 per month

Our Junior Company sessions cost £48 per month.
