“I have always wanted to own my own school. Eight years ago I expected it to be a part time thing, as an income supplement, doing something I love. Now I have three schools, additional weekday classes and this has been my full time job for 5 years! My schools are my passion as well as my job. It was the best decision to join Theatretrain as the work-life quality and balance I wanted has been achieved.”

James Percy

Theatretrain Portsmouth

“I’m proud to say that Theatretrain Portsmouth is everything I hoped it would be and more. The business has grown and keeps growing, and we’ve built our own Theatretrain family. I look forward to every Saturday morning, and I’m pleased to say it is exactly where I would’ve wanted to go as a child.”

“When I took over the Chester school in 2005, I didn’t realise how quickly I would be able to turn a hobby into a business. Theatretrain provides wonderful experiences, not just for our pupils but also for our teachers and centre directors…the support between centre directors and from head office is a key part of our success.”

Erin Hankin

Theatretrain Waltham Forest

“Whilst I was a drama teacher, I had never run my own business and it was initially quite a scary experience taking on a new venture. However, the training and support I received from Theatretrain really helped me to get the school off the ground and understand all the business side of running a franchise. I am now in my eighth year and I am so glad I took that initial leap as it is truly my happy place.”

“The great thing about being a franchisee is the opportunity to expand. Having grown the numbers in the main company to 60, I also added the Junior ensemble (4-5 year olds) and two successful Musical Theatre groups. This has taken the overall numbers within the franchise to around 140 children. The Musical Theatre model is great for my area as a lot of areas do not have the numbers to sustain a Main Company but running a 90-minute musical theatre class is a great way to get students involved and to raise the profile of the business.”

“Everybody is on the same page at Theatretrain. We all want to enrich young people’s lives and want to make a difference. We’re all passionate to want to strive and achieve – And there is something quite special being part of a family that all have the same hopes and ambitions as you – all whilst doing what you love and are so passionate about. “
