I completely understand.
No one wants their child to feel awkward or get something wrong in front of others.
But here’s the thing:
Mistakes aren’t something to be feared at Theatretrain.
They’re something we expect and even celebrate.
Because every time a child gives something a go, even if they’re unsure, they’re being brave.
And that’s worth more than a perfect performance.
What trying – and stumbling actually teaches them:
-
Resilience – They learn to bounce back when something doesn’t go to plan
-
Growth mindset – They see that effort leads to progress, not perfection
-
Self-trust – They realise they can cope with challenges
-
Empathy – They understand how to support others who are also trying their best
We talk a lot about confidence, but confidence isn’t about always getting things right.
It’s about showing up. Speaking out. Taking part.
Even when they feel unsure.
What does that look like in our sessions?
It’s a child forgetting a line and another one gently helping them out.
It’s someone stepping into a lead role last-minute and giving it their all.
It’s trying a new dance move and laughing when it doesn’t quite land and then trying again.
We don’t aim for perfect. We aim for progress.
So if you’ve got a child who’s worried about “messing up” or who tends to hold back unless they’re sure they’ll get it right, know this:
They’ll be safe here.
They’ll be supported.
And they’ll learn that courage and creativity go hand in hand.
